Today, Bali Art Festival is opening! The ceremony was attended by Indonesia President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, by hit kul-kul, a Balinese traditional instrument. This festival is the 30 times since it was held. This year it was held on Denpasar, in Renon region for exact place, with theme "Citta Wretti Nirodha" (control yourself to reach balance and harmony).

On his speech, President ask the citizen and local government to promote Bali using this festival. Well, since Bali is quite famous, I think it's not hard for local government to attract more tourists to visit Bali.

There are many attractions during festival. From some information, there are about 22 region from Indonesia will participate on this festival.

Hope the festival succeeded, both on the implementation or promoting Bali to attract tourists.

Butterfly Garden

For almost a year, I didn't post an article here. From today, I hope I can post regularly. Here is a new article.

Butterfly garden is located in Banjar Sandan, Wanasari, or about 6 km from Tabanan (to the north). Hundreds of butterflies, which are grouped into 15 categories, were collected from every area in Indonesia. The butterflies is protected since they are quite rare, such as Troides Helena and Ornithoptera Priamus.

The enviroment was designed naturally so those butterflies will feel comfortable and can do profilerate. Many flowers, especially which become butterflies' favourite, were planted and maintained, so the butterflies don't need to worry about food.

This garden was covered by net to protect the butterflies from predators.

The flabbergast thing from the garden with 35 acre is the tourists from abroad more interest to visit the garden than domestic tourist. The best time to visiting the garden is before 10.00 on local time, so we can see the hundred butterflies take food from flowers.

BE MESERE(BALI SPICY BEEF)

Be Mesere is the one of Bali traditional food. It's the spicy(very hot) food, that will make your mouth burnt. But you will take it more and more, unconciously. Actually,Be Mesere is the meat fried sauce.

Let's cook.

Yield: 2 serving

250 gram beef
8 pcs red chillies
6 pcs little green chillies
1 small piece of trassi
1 small piece of soft brown sugar(Javanesse sugar), it should be the same amount with trassi
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 table spoon vegetable oil
lime (if like)

1.Boiled beef until tender, then hit the meet and shred into small strips, pulling it apart with your fingers.
2.Mix all spicy together until you have a smooth paste.
3.Heat vegetable oil, then mix all ingredients into fry pan

Bedugul (Part 2)

Bedugul is a cool mountain area in Bali. It located about one or two hours drive from the Ngurah Rai International Airport in the normal traffic (not in weekend). In the weekend, you can reach it in two and half hours or more. The attitude of Bedugul is about 1400 meters above sea level, so like I said in my previous article, Bedugul has cool temperature. (the pic is taken from here)

In Bedugul you can find many beautiful tourism objects and facilities. Also you will see beautiful sights along your journey to this location. The Eka Karya Botanical Garden (the only botanical garden in Bali) located in Bedugul area (see the left pic), among Lake Beratan (right pic), Lake Tamblingan, Lake Buyan and natural forest in the west part.

At the edge of Lake Beratan you will see the Ulun Danu Temple which is beautifully and harmoniously featured with the surrounding nature. Some water sports activities are provided in this lake e.g. fishing, skiing, diving and parasailing. You can find the wonderful scene on the park in Bedugul area (right pic).

Walking from the parking area, you will enter and enjoy greenery and the shadow of the Banyan tree. A small garden with some of local flowers raises the beauty of the landscape in front of the temple.

Bedugul

Bedugul is a great place in Bali. Me and my wife visited there last week and had some picture there.

The weather is cool...you can compare it with Puncak (West Java) and Lembang (Bandung - West Java) since the temperature is about 20-24 Celcius degree.

There are many good places you must visit to, such as Desa Bedugul (Bedugul Village), Kebon Raya (I'll write this later), then Danau Beratan (Beratan Lake, you can see in background in left picture), Pura Ulun Danu (the background of 2 pictures), and Pasar Tradisional Candi Kuning (Candi Kuning Traditional Market - well I hadn't visited since I only passed by Bedugul).

So, don't forget to visit Bedugul if you go to Bali!!
